A LITTLE MORE ABOUT IT

Now that the nights are getting darker and the sun is setting earlier it can be hard to find the light and joy we find during night time bike rides in the summer. For me, neon signs evoke a combination of nostalgia and futurism and have a great warmth brought into the cold dark of the city night. Join me on a ride by some notable neon signs around Portland that glow year round and keep the nights bright. We'll see both large and small signs from Milwaukie through Westmoreland then to Hawthorne, Kerns and Downtown before climbing up to Overlook Park and the motels on Interstate. Many of these signs are located on car-centric streets l that we don't often liketo ride on, let's get out there build community and enjoy the glow! The route is about 18 Miles long and will be generally moderately paced (10 miles per hour) with a no-drop mentality. So we will gather after climbs and stop for mechanicals etc. If needed we can stop around 8 miles into the ride for a store stop. We should finish up at Overlook Park before 9:00 then will double back to Alibi Tiki Lounge and plan to hang out for a while in the area. The ride is a not a loop but begins and ends on the TriMet MAX orange & yellow lines for folks to get to and from the ride. I still have a few Outdoor Store themed spoke cards for folks who haven't gotten them on previous rides.
